Inspired to play the deeper old school house sounds and mostly obscure records which combines with proven skills on the decks and a natural ability to pick the right tune at the right time. This also means spending hours in hidden vinyl vaults to find hidden Gems and refreshing records which are timeless.

Nachtbraker

Biography

After receiving widespread recognition for books like “How Does He Do It?” and “Glorious Misunderstandings,” Maurits Verwoerd decided to start a career as a music producer. Though few doubted his skills as an artist, most of Maurits neighbours thought different about his compositions, causing him to start producing music in the underground dungeons of Amsterdam. Coming out occasionally, but only at night, slowly made him well known among friends and enemies as Nachtbraker (Dutch for night hawk).

The signs of exposure to a wide range of genres are clearly hearable in his music, ranging from ecstatic slow grooves to unconventional dub tracks. Critics often praise him for adopting a wide pallet of sounds and subtle, detailed percussion. While his rare but celebrated performances receive increasing recognition, it’s unquestionable that Nachtbraker will keep a lot of people comfortably awake for the coming years.

L’Atelier

Biography

With music being a basis of a relationship that goes way back in time, L’Atelier is here to stay. Paul Veen en Gijs van Willigen are based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and use their love for the music, starting with Hip Hop, to do what they do best; make people dance. Both coming from different corners of house music and both taking their own road towards today makes L’Atelier a duo with an own, new sound. Various influences created and shaped this sound. A sound that evolves and grows every day.

With their first tracks being finished quite some time ago, it was De Sluwe Vos’ label VEEE Music that released their first track “Ca Banera” in the beginning of 2011. Another remix followed on the same label that picked up quite some support and air play on national radio. Nowadays their releases are supported by names like Dixon, San Soda, Nicholas, William Kouam Djoko, Detroit Swindle, Robert Owens, Audiojack, Taras van de Voorde, Bas Amro, Emanuel Satie, Michel de Hey, Luciano and Mihai Popoviciu. Peak moment for 2011 clearly was hitting the number one spot in the deep/tech house chart on trackitdown together with Flavourables. “What I See” from the Ensemble EP on Manchester Underground Music received great responses and reviews and was a definite crowd pleaser.

With a future sight on some great releases and having found love and a home at ZeeZout/SALT, L’Atelier is on top of their game. L’Atelier’s DJ sets at multiple, different venues throughout the country made them one of the new homecoming talents from Amsterdam. What sets L’Atelier apart is their sense of flow. If you have ever seen L’Atelier spin, you know that what separates them from the rest of the pack is not just their skills, but their limitless energy!

Tijn Benedek

Biography

Tijn is one of those DJ’s who stays till the very last moment when it comes to clubbing and isn’t afraid to dance behind the decks. He is a devoted vinyl collector and with his energy he invites the audience to go further then the feeling of euphoria. Maybe it’s because of his warm beats in combination with the drive to create an explosion on the dance floor. This will force you to listen deeper to the music he plays. Disco music from the 60’s and 70’s has taking him where he now is, creating an old Chicago / Detroit sound. But he will also surprise you with HipHop, Soul, Funk or Techno from his continued growing record collection.

Erik Sebastiaan

Biography

As a true kid from the 80’s, I remember starting to love music while dancing in the living room to the sounds of bands like Wham! and Toto. Over the years my focus changed from Rock music to Hiphop but in the background there had always been this interest in a type of music I simply could not place. I remember describing it as ‘the jungle sound’, based on my association with energetic and rhythmic drums.

Just before my 18th birthday I discovered that what I had been looking for, were solid techno beats. After this followed many hours of looking for mixes, listening to music and visiting countless events. This went on for a couple of years until I felt it was time to contribute and give back what I had taken. As such I started collecting and playing music in front of crowds from around 2008. Over the years I noticed that the many hours that went into the music, my preferences started to become more and more puristic and experimental. The artist in me started to play an important role in collecting and playing. Around this time I started to heavily collect vinyl.

It was in 2010 that my love for this medium brought an entirely different perspective to music. It brought along the ability to be even more critical towards the music that I bought. The true digger in me arose and has brought me to a point where I can say to be quite satisfied with my collection and the path which I’m currently following. Specifically when realizing that building up a sound and solid collection, is a matter of time, dedication and knowledge. Three elements that go well hand-in-hand and with which I’m far from finished at the moment.

Nowadays my aim is to collect from deeper house or techno sounds, to dry beats, to groovy minimal. Most important however, is that the puristic artist from some years back has made place for a dj whose main focus it is to provide his audience with both a broadening musical experience and the possibility to dance their tits off.

Biography
Halve Soul is the musical collaboration between Roberto Balzarelli and Dieuwer Duijf. Coming from complete different musical angles they somehow found each other in Amsterdam. From warm up duties to closure bonanza; Halve Soul knows which record to drop to get that crowd grooving. Together with Tijn Benedek they also organize Culture of Souls. Steef van Velzen

Biography

When I play music,
I adapt,
to provide you,
the just amount of energy.

So,

I play techno, tech-house, house & deep house,
as long as the vocals tinkle, tell, trigger & yell,
the hi-hats spin, slap, roll & clap,
the mids grind, groove, grasp & move and
the basses smash, crash, wrap & clash.

Feel welcome to dance along.

Don’t forget your dirty face!
